The Jacques Loussier Trio , founded in 1959, played more than 3,000 concerts and sold more than 7 million recordings—mostly in the Bach series. French jazz trio formed in 1959 by pianist Jacques Loussier, with Christian Garros on drums and Pierre Michelot on bass. They performed jazz interpretations of J.S. Bach's work. Sometimes credited as 'Play Bach Trio', the original trio broke up in 1978. In 1985, Loussier formed a new Jacques Loussier Trio with new members.

The Jacques Loussier Trio was a French Third Stream jazz piano trio, led by pianist Jacques Loussier, that became known for its jazz interpretations of European classical music. They were commonly known in France as "le trio Play Bach" after the title of their first LPs. The works presented are the Bach Keyboard concerto #1, the corale "Wachet Auf" and a partita, which seems to be loosely based on the keyboard concerto. This is perhaps the best Jazz/classical crossover album out there.
